Tennova Healthcare - Harton and LMU-DCOM Announce Affiliation

TULLAHOMA, TN (February 6, 2020) - Tennova Healthcare – Harton is pleased to announce its affiliation with Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM). Harton will be a core rotation site providing clinical training to third- and fourth-year medical students.

“We are excited to be partnering with LMU-DCOM in this endeavor,” states Rich Ellis, Tennova Healthcare – Harton CEO, “which provides us an opportunity to assist in the education of medical students who are in pursuit of becoming doctors. We’ll begin this journey with nine students from LMU-DCOM beginning their clinical rotations in July of this year.”

“We strive to provide our students with the best educational opportunities possible to prepare them to be outstanding doctors of osteopathic medicine,” said LMU-DCOM Vice President and Dean Brian A. Kessler, DO. “The addition of Tennova Healthcare-Harton as a core site will help us prepare future clinicians to serve the community with high quality patient-centered health care.”

LMU-DCOM students in their third and fourth year of medical school, also known as the clinical years, train in both hospital and office-based settings. During the third year, the students are assigned to a core clinical rotational site. Students will have the opportunity to be trained in behavioral health, internal medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, family medicine and primary care. Fourth year rotations include emergency medicine, rural outpatient, a medical subspecialty elective, as well as several months of free electives, which the students use to explore residency training programs.

“The medical staff and hospital administration at Tennova Healthcare - Harton have been very supportive and we look forward to working with them to continue expanding our clinical training,” said Kessler.
